Summer Service Trip 2026

July 5-10

Prayer

We pray at the beginning of the day, before every meal and at night.

We celebrate Mass together each day and every participant has a chance to work with others in the group to plan a prayer experience.

Service

Each day we go out in groups to work with the people of Clearfield County and the surrounding area. The poverty we address might have to do with money, but it just as likely has to do with family having moved away or having aged and not able to keep up the house or yard like they once could.

Our Service might be yardwork, painting a house or rooms, repairing a porch or steps, building a wheelchair ramp, visiting residents in a nursing home, or just about any other work or chore.

We will learn new skills and support one another to do even more than we thought we could.

Some History

Over the 50 years that Anawim Ministries has been in Frenchville, they have become a fixture in the wider community. Countless groups of young people and adults from all over the country have extended the reach of Anawim Ministries’ service into so many homes and helped change the lives of families and struggling individuals.

Young People Who Care was the original name of this rural Catholic Mission. It has grown far beyond the dreams of those first few young founders. It is now known as Anawim Ministries while Young People Who Care is a branch of those ministries.

Our Home for the Week

The central building has a dining area, a meeting area, and a nice kitchen.

On one side of the central building is a dorm for the women and on the other side is a dorm for the men.

Both dorms have two bunk rooms.

Community

During our week at Young People Who Care, we will live in community with one another. We will work together, cook and clean up for one another, pray and play games together.

Many opportunities will come up where we are called upon to make personal sacrifices of our time and energy for the good of others.

Putting our faith into action is a part of our life of community.

Simplicity

Participants of this program are invited into a simple lifestyle in solidarity with the poor. This lifestyle includes home prepared meals, refrained use of modern conveniences, conservation of our natural resources through recycling, and attentiveness to each other’s needs.
